"The River" is an incredible book about a 15 year old boy named
Brian who previously lived in the wilderness for 54 days. He was asked by the government to go back to the wilderness again
because they wanted to learn more about survival phscycology. At first his mother thinks it's insane but after several hours
of discussion the government convinced her to let Brian go. Brian agreed to it as soon as he heard he was able to go again
because he hated the city. He went with a man named Derek (phsycologist) back to the wilderness. When they arrived
at the wilderness Brian decided that they should stay with no gear in order for it to be a real survival situation. Later,
after Derek and Brian were gathering food and they had gone to sleep Derek was struck by lighting and Brian was
hit too but not as badly. Derek went into a coma and Brian was forced to make a raft out of logs and go down the
river to save Derek from death due to starvation.
